As the ecosystem continues to grow we’re here to point out all the magic that you might have missed below the surface. Amidst the continued progress on Holo and Holochain development, the sweet news that all of our super fans heard loud and clear is true P2P networking is here!
If you’re wondering what exactly we’ve been working on at Holo and Holochain this past month — the wait is over! Let’s jump right in.
Real P2P Networking Coming To Holochain RSM (Alpha)
I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, but the core dev team just keeps on developing Holochain RSM. New features have just landed, along with bug fixes and niceties for app devs. We’re closing in on our ‘leapfrog’ goal where we match Holochain Redux for functionality.

Networking Has Landed!
I’m seeing other very exciting signs in the developer ecosystem that Holochain is reaching maturity in other ways — in particular I want to highlight a really cool weekend hacking project that, to me, says Holochain is ready for developers in a fresh way.

Holochain RSM (Alpha) Migration Guide
while there’s not a lot of code samples in the guide, it does point out ways that we’ve been able to learn things over the past couple years. We’ve been able to leverage Rust in better ways for the SDK, which means app devs are able to cut their code 50–60% and write more ergonomic code in the process. We’re also taking advantage of advances in concurrency libs from the Rust ecosystem to remove deadlocks and race conditions and generally make this crazy distributed computing thing more efficient.
So the migration guide + the HDK docs (not available online, unfortunately), plus the new holochain codebase might be interesting for other RiB devs to explore. Check out evolving Migration Guide from Redux to RSM
