Monthly Roundup for Holo & Holochain
You know what time it is…Welcome to our monthly roundup! November was a spectacular month here at Holo, and we loved getting to share it with you all. Elemental Chat went public (which was a massive success) and was hosted on HoloPorts around the globe.
At the beginning of this month, we were still testing and preparing for the release of Elemental Chat to the public. We hit 450 users and made some small tweaks to the code leading up to the public launch on November 18th.
Once launched on November 18th, the public test was a huge success! We reached over 5,000 peers all across the globe, and over 20k messages were sent. This prototype Holochain app is officially fully functioning in the public, using Holo infrastructure end-to-end while being hosted by HoloPorts all across the world. It truly demonstrated that Web 3.0 is possible throughout our digital lives, not just in a few highly specialized contexts.

Testing Sharding on Holochain
The past few Holochain releases have focused on both increasing resilience and adding features for developers.
One task is particularly important, even though you’ll probably never see or experience it — and in fact, its invisibility will be the proof of its success. Right now, the core dev team is doing extensive sharding tests, tuning parameters, adjusting the algorithm, and testing again. Currently, they’re investigating how peers respond to dramatic changes in their neighbourhood, such as many neighbours leaving at once or adjusting their arcs of responsibility.
