Leadership & Org Update 22

A few weeks ago we announced and opened up the code repository for Holochain RSM — a new version of Holochain with a refactored state model (RSM). If you’ve followed some of the more technical articles or the AMA where Arthur Brock, the co-founder and principal architect of Holochain described the fundamentals of the changes, you probably know already that much more than just the state model was changed. The reception to this news has been profound. Developers across the board are excited to see the progress and have leapt in with both feet to test out this new version…

Leadership & Org Update #25

When we first began this project, we shared our vision for an Internet of peer-to-peer web applications that would give users the power to direct their own online experiences. We connected with thousands of people also inspired by the possibility of removing centralising powers built into the infrastructure so that humanity might vastly expand its creative and collaborative potential.

The launch of Elemental Chat in our Alpha test certainly doesn’t get all that done. But it is a real step towards realising that promise. Elemental Chat running on HoloPorts has no central database. Each person who is running the app…

Leadership & Org Update #24

  • Introducing the new HoloFuel App Design
  • Progress on Many Fronts
  • Moving HoloFuel up on the Roadmap

Introducing the new HoloFuel App Design

Last year we released the HoloFuel hApp to our community testers on a previous version of Holochain. The testing we did then, although focused on the Holochain infrastructure, allowed us to observe and listen, and for testers to provide incredibly valuable feedback. It set us up to reimagine HoloFuel as an application. So that our alpha test community can have an idea of what to expect, today we are sharing the new design.

HoloFuel will work both installed locally and also as a hosted…

Leadership & Org Update #23

This past week has flown by as we have released Elemental Chat for Hosts first to QA, then to our Pre-Release Community testers. We have tested live with more than 50 nodes and we’ve seen hundreds of messages and dozens of channels. In just the past two days, we’ve run concurrent test sessions with 12 to 15 testers at a time.

Results are consistently showing:

  • Messages that get sent are received.
  • If both users are online when the message is sent, it can be received nearly instantaneously using signals.
  • If a user is offline or if their browser is disconnected…
